Your countertop
Your sink · outside dimensions

Sink position uses its outer rim, not the cutout. The inset is applied on each side; use the actual product template for its cutout and corner radii.

Your faucet

Positive offset moves the faucet right; negative moves it left. Base diameter and drill-hole diameter are different measurements. Confirm both from your faucet specification. Spout reach is the horizontal distance from the mounting centre to the outlet, not the faucet height or the curved pipe length. The example reach is 200 mm; replace it with your model’s measurement. The preview points straight towards the front edge.

Extra fixtures

Add up to five soap dispensers, hot-water taps or extra faucets. Positions are measured from the countertop’s left and back edges. Enter each product’s own required rear clearance; 0 means no requirement has been entered.

Coordinates are from the left and back edges of the countertop. The printed picture is not full size. Transfer dimensions with a ruler and verify against the actual products.

How to calculate sink and faucet spacing

  1. Enter the countertop width and depth, followed by the sink’s outside dimensions and its position from the left and back edges.
  2. Enter the faucet base diameter and the separate mounting-hole diameter from your product specification.
  3. Choose the gap between the sink rim and faucet base, then check rear clearance against the requirement for your actual faucet.
  4. Review the scaled layout and centre coordinates, check the actual products, and save the URL or print the layout.

Which distance are you measuring?

Rim-to-base gap is the open space between the sink’s outside rear edge and the nearest edge of the faucet base. The faucet centre is another half base-diameter away. The mounting hole is shown separately inside the base.

Rear clearance can be measured to the centre or the rear of the base, depending on the product instructions. For a centred faucet behind the sink, the rear strip needed is: rim gap + half base diameter + required centre clearance, or rim gap + full base diameter + required base-edge clearance.

Reading the supplied illustrations

The cutout illustration shows a 10 mm inset from the traced sink outline. Another positioning illustration shows 55 mm and 2 mm dimensions relative to guide lines; those reference lines are not identified in the cropped image, so this planner does not treat either as a universal sink-to-faucet spacing. The faucet illustration shows a 65 mm minimum from the rear edge to the faucet centre, as confirmed for the supplied instructions.

Examples are not universal IKEA requirements. Check the actual sink template, faucet handle movement, spout reach, mounting clamp, hoses, cabinet supports, wall or backsplash thickness, and countertop material requirements. The spout is shown pointing straight towards the front edge, without modelling water-stream angle or height. Additional fixtures have independent centre positions, base and hole diameters, reach and rear-clearance requirements. Base overlaps are flagged; below-counter fittings and handle movement are not modelled. All spouts point towards the front. Its endpoint is checked against the simplified cutout rectangle, which may differ from the real bowl opening. This tool models rectangular sink footprints and circular faucet bases in a top view. It cannot check those hidden installation details. Verify every measurement before cutting or drilling.

Sink and tap spacing questions

How much space should there be between a sink and faucet?

There is no single gap specified by this calculator for every sink and faucet. Enter the gap you want between the outside sink rim and faucet base, then check the product’s clearance, handle travel, spout reach and mounting requirements. The tool calculates where the faucet centre would sit.

How is the faucet centre calculated?

Distance from the back edge to the faucet centre = sink rear-edge distance − rim-to-base gap − half the faucet base diameter. Left-edge distance = sink left-edge distance + half the sink width + your chosen horizontal offset.

Does the 65 mm reference apply to every IKEA faucet?

No. The reference illustration used for this planner measures 65 mm to the faucet centre. It is an editable starting value from that illustration, not a universal requirement for IKEA or other brands. Use the complete instructions for your own model.

Is faucet base diameter the same as drill-hole diameter?

No. The base is the visible footprint on top of the countertop. The mounting-hole diameter is the opening required by the faucet. Both appear separately in the layout.

Can I use the printed picture as a cutting or drilling template?

No. Print scaling, simplified shapes and missing product details make it unsuitable as a template. Use the manufacturer’s actual template and transfer verified dimensions to the worktop.

Estimates and visual planning only. Results depend on your inputs and simplified geometry and may contain errors. This tool is not professional installation advice, a site survey, a cutting or drilling template, or a guarantee of fit, clearance, watertightness or suitability.

Before cutting, drilling or installing, independently verify every dimension against the actual sink, faucet, countertop, cabinet and manufacturer’s current instructions. Check handles, spout reach, clamps, hoses, structural supports and material-specific requirements. Consult a qualified installer when needed.
