Picture & gallery wall planner

Arrange a picture wall before making any holes. Enter your frame sizes, drag each picture into place, or randomize a gallery wall inside your chosen area. Drop a frame to see dotted measurements to its centre.

Create a saved link with AI

Give your AI assistant your measurements or figures and the instructions below. It can create a ready-to-open link for this wall layout. Open the link, check the inputs, then bookmark it or copy the URL to reuse it later.

Copy this prompt and add your information:

Read https://www.lejnel.com/wall-layout-url-guide.txt and generate a clickable saved-plan URL for my wall layout. Convert my units to the guide’s required units. Ask for missing inputs instead of guessing, and explain any assumptions. Return the link and a summary of the inputs used.

How to plan a picture wall with your own frame sizes

  1. Measure the wall from left to right and floor to ceiling.
  2. Enter a name and outside dimensions, then choose Add item. Each added object is independent; there are no fixed item types or preset sizes.
  3. Drag an object to its position. The centre dimensions and saved URL update after you drop it.
  4. Check the whole arrangement, then print the layout or bookmark its URL.

Try a gallery wall arrangement before hanging pictures

Use the outside dimensions of your picture frames, including their borders. Mix portrait and landscape frames by entering each width and height separately. Define a placement area for the group, then drag frames into position or use Randomize in area to explore arrangements. The random layout keeps frames inside the area without overlaps; it does not choose an artistic style or guarantee equal gaps.

Example: centre a frame above a sofa

Suppose the sofa’s left edge is 600 mm from the wall’s left edge and its width is 1,800 mm. Its horizontal centre is 1,500 mm from the wall’s left edge. Enter 1,500 mm as the frame’s centre-from-left position, then choose its centre height above the floor. The sofa is not drawn by this planner; use your actual measurements to define a placement area above it.

Picture wall planning questions

Can I arrange different picture frame sizes?

Yes. Add up to 12 individual frames with their own names, widths and heights. Choose Add item for each frame, then drag it into place. Select a frame and expand Update highlighted item to change that frame only.

Can the planner suggest a gallery wall arrangement?

Randomize in area tries a new non-overlapping arrangement inside your chosen area. Use it as a starting point, then move frames yourself. If the bounded search finds no arrangement, it keeps your existing positions; this does not prove that no arrangement is possible.

Does it show the distances for hanging pictures?

Dotted lines show each frame’s visual centre from the left wall edge and above the floor. The item list also shows edge clearances. These are layout measurements; actual hook, wire or bracket positions must come from the frame’s mounting details.

Can I use this for mirrors or shelves too?

Yes. Name each item and enter its outside rectangular dimensions. The planner shows placement and overlaps, but it does not assess loads, brackets or suitable wall fixings.

Can I save, print or use inches?

Yes. Bookmark or copy the complete plan URL to reopen your layout. Use Print layout for a paper record, and switch between metric and imperial measurements. Printed pictures are not full-size drilling templates.

Centre position is not a fixing position

A picture hanger, shelf bracket or mirror fixing may sit away from the visual centre. Use the object’s mounting instructions to work out each fixing location. This planner uses rectangular footprints and does not model brackets, doors, sockets, furniture or hidden wall services. Overlapping rectangles are flagged for review; the tool does not determine whether an installation is safe.
