Query parameter: paint, a readable JSON object. Current version v: 2.
Required shared fields: coats (integer 1–10), coverage (square metres per litre per coat, 0.1–100), extra (percentage 0–100), tin (litres 0.01–100), rooms (array of 1–12 rooms).
Each room: name (nonempty string, at most 45 characters), height (metres 0.1–20), openings (square metres 0–40000, strictly below exposed perimeter × height), ceiling ("yes" or "no"), sections (1–6 rectangles).
Each section: x, y, length, width, all finite JSON numbers in METRES. x increases right; y increases down. Sections must share an edge, not just a corner; no overlaps. For shaped rooms each size is 0.3–20 m, coordinates within +/-20 m, and entire shape within 20 × 20 m. A single rectangle accepts sizes 0.1–100 m, coordinates +/-100 m for legacy compatibility.
Walls follow all exposed section edges, excluding shared joins. Ceiling is combined section area. Separate rooms each count their own wall face; subtract door openings separately on each painted side. No diagonal walls, sloped surfaces or internal partitions within a joined shape. All rooms share paint, coverage, coats, allowance and tin size. Create separate estimates for different products.
Metric/imperial display never changes saved metre coordinates. Opening area stays square metres and paint stays litres in both modes.
Use the actual paint label for coverage and coats. Ask for missing room dimensions and requirements rather than inventing them. Defaults and this example are illustrative only.
Legacy links remain accepted: no version (or v:1) with length, width, height, openings, ceiling, coats, coverage, extra, tin. They load as one rectangular room and are saved as v:2.
